New Home Registrations Increase
Any of our readers involved in new property development will be pleased to hear that, according to the National House Building Council (NHBC), the number of new homes that are being registered in the UK is greater this year than it was in 2014 based on the latest data available. Presumably, as more new homes have been registered, this will have resulted in an increase in the number of firms seeking development finance.
In respect of the rolling three months from February to April 2015, there were 41,307 new homes registered. For the same period in 2014, the figure was 34,451 – an increase of 19.9%.
The number of new homes registered in the private sector for the above period last year rose from 24,993 to 31,083 fro the same period this year – an increase of 24%. In the public sector, there was a rise of 8% from 9,458 to 10,224 homes.
In April 2015, there were 12,459 new homes that were registered compared to 11,985 homes for the same month last year – an increase of 4%.
The South East of England saw the most new homes being registered between February to April 2015 – 6,495. Greater London was in second place with 5,469 and Eastern with 4,679.
